ComfortDelGro announces acquisition of P&J Ellis Coach Business
LONDON, 1 JULY 2026 – ComfortDelGro today announced that it has completed the acquisition of the well-established P&J Ellis coach business from its family owners, further strengthening the Group’s expanding presence across the UK and Ireland.
Established more than 42 years ago by founders Phil and Janet Ellis, P&J Ellis has built a strong reputation in the London private hire coach market, developing a loyal client base that continues to underpin its success today. The company is recognised for its consistent delivery of high-quality service and dependability. Operating a fleet of 26 executive coaches and employing around 50 staff, the business has developed into a trusted name for customers across the capital. The company will continue to operate from its long-standing base in Perivale, which is included as part of the acquisition. This operating base will further strengthen ComfortDelGro’s ability to serve customers across its coach business.
The addition of P&J Ellis reflects ComfortDelGro’s continued investment in well-established, high-quality transport businesses, alongside its existing coach operations including Westbus in Hayes and Adventure Travel in Cardiff and Swansea.
Edward Thomas, CEO, ComfortDelGro UK and Ireland Bus and Coach, said:
“We are delighted that P&J Ellis is joining ComfortDelGro. It is a business we have admired for some time, with a well-earned reputation for quality, reliability and professionalism in the London market.”
He added:
“P&J Ellis brings a long and respected heritage, underpinned by a strong and experienced team. Our focus will be on working closely with colleagues, listening carefully and building on the strengths that are already in place, supported by the wider capabilities of the ComfortDelGro across the UK and Ireland.”
Matt Ellis, former owner of P&J Ellis, said:
“We are proud of what has been built at P&J Ellis over more than 40 years and pleased to have found new owners in ComfortDelGro; our fantastic team will be in good hands.”
ComfortDelGro has expressed its appreciation to Matt and Teresa Ellis for their collaboration throughout the process and for the significant contribution they have made in establishing P&J Ellis as a respected operator over more than four decades.
This acquisition reflects ComfortDelGro’s ongoing strategy of investing in strong, well-run transport businesses and supporting their continued development through operational expertise, long-term commitment and a focus on delivering high-quality services to customers. In the UK, ComfortDelGro also operates under the Metroline, Addison Lee and CMAC brands.
